Evivo Powder is intended for use in term infants consuming human milk. If your baby is preterm, immunocompromised, has known allergies, or if you have other questions concerning your baby's health, please consult your physician.
For newborns or infants who cannot tolerate a 3-5 ml volume in one feeding, consider making a thin paste with Evivo powder using a small amount of breast milk or water, and use finger to feed directly to baby or apply to nipple during feeding.

Frequently Asked Questions
Only Evivo contains B. infantis EVC001, an infant-specific strain that has evolved with humans for millions of years to work with human milk, and should be naturally found in the infant gut. B. infantis EVC001 uses the HMOs (human milk oligosaccharides) in breast milk to colonize (grow & thrive), favorably changing the gut biochemistry to significantly reduce potentially harmful bacteria and intestinal inflammation, both of which have been linked to increased risk of short- and long-term health problems. Evivo paired with a human milk diet creates a protective infant gut environment and helps guide immune development towards healthy function, thus setting a baby on a lifepath of health.
Not all bifidobacteria are adapted to the gut or can use HMOs (human milk oligosaccharides). For example, B. lactis (e.g. BB-12), cannot use HMOs. While B. infantis is the most adept at utilizing HMOs, the capacity to utilize HMOs is very strain dependent. Most infant probiotics that contain a B. infantis strain are H5 negative, meaning they have mutations in the H5 gene cluster which renders these strains unable to efficiently access HMOs. Only EVC001, was found to contain a fully functional H5 gene cluster that encodes for a critically important ABC transporter providing a mechanism that brings core HMOs into the bacterial cell, allowing it to transport and fully metabolize HMOs in the infant gut. All infants should naturally have B. infantis in their microbiomes as a natural process part of their development, but 90% of babies in the US no longer have B. infantis due to high antibiotic use, and modern birthing and feeding practices. Evivo is recommended for all human or mix-fed (human milk + formula) babies, and in particular: Newborns exposed to antibiotics or of mothers treated with perinatal antibiotics E.g., Born by C-section, infants of GBS strep-positive mothers and cases of chorioamnionitis. Also, infants with a family history of food allergy, asthma, eczema, or autoimmune disease
Evivo is a Food for Special Dietary Use (FSDU), manufactured in the USA, and meets all FDA regulations for food products. Evivo is the only product in this category designated as a FSDU given its unique and critical role of providing the functional capacity to metabolize HMO, a foundational part of human milk that optimizes the principal nutrition for newborns. Additionally, within the FDA, the Office of Food Additive Safety oversees a process called GRAS status for many types of products, including Evivo. These products must complete an extensive process of scientific and data review by independent qualified experts, who are assessing whether the product is safe under the conditions of its intended use. Evivo gained GRAS status for use with both term and preterm infants after successfully completing this process, with consensus by all independent qualified experts.
Evivo contains lactose derived from dairy. Lactose is the carbohydrate portion of milk. Lactose is naturally present in human milk, which is why we chose to use it in Evivo. The milk protein and other components are separated to produce high-purity lactose.
When making Evivo, one of the components of the fermentation media contains broken pieces of soy and casein (peptides). These peptides are consumed by the bacteria when growing. At the end of the process, the media is discarded.
We do not expect any intact milk protein, soy or casein protein in the final product but cannot guarantee it. Notably, results have come negative for milk, soy, or casein protein in the instances when we tested the product.
